Rubbish Heap Rising

The global premiere (!?!) of 'Rubbish Heap Rising' was held at FLIRT cafe in Bournemouth last week. On Sunday 22nd December, we were part of the Living Advent Calendar, a series of family activities held in Bournemouth throughout advent. We were really pleased to be included in this lovely Christmas event, which not only kick-started our fund raising to the tune of £120, but also spurred us on in November and December to put the final touches to the story itself and make all the props we need.

These are the Tipkins, little people made of discarded junk, who live in the rubbish tip in our story.

At the moment, 'Rubbish Heap Rising' is just a story. Ben Lindsey-Clark tells the story, with the rest of the Yak Pack joining in with the audience responses, helping with the props and instruments, and generally having fun! These story telling events are so important as we develop the show - seeing what people enjoy joining in with and allowing the story to evolve.

Towards summertime, we will be turning the story into a performance, with more Yak Pack members as actors and performers rather than helpers. There will still be plenty for the audience to do though!

Thank you so much to The Living Advent Calendar for donating to the Project, and to FLIRT cafe for hosting our story telling shenanigans! And thank you to our lovely audiences who were enthusiastic, involved and great fun!
