Visit to Christchurch Infant School

Today we visited Christchurch Infant School, to chat to year 2 about how everythng went in Spiti. They raised money for us and sponsored the performance in Hikkim village. We were delighted to learn that the postcard we'd sent them from the worlds highest post office (in Hikkim, 4440m above sea level) had arrived already.

We showed them a video of our visit to Hikkim - this is the unedited version!

Sady there is no footage of our morning spent trekking to Hikkim from nearby Langza village as it poured for the whole 3 hours walk. Since Spiti is a desert, we were monumentally unprepared for rain, and arrived totally soaked and freezing cold, with only our British stoicism towards Weather to sustain us.

After a few hours drinking chai around a yak dung fired stove, we were fully revived and headed up to the local temple for the evenings performance.

About 80 local people of all ages crammed into the tiny hall to watch our show, which blended seamlessly into the evening entertainment - a horse festival and ceremony to bring good fortune to the village.
