With less than 2 months until we go to Spiti, its time to start gathering the books that we'll be taking with us to donate to children's libraries.
They are going to :
The school libaries where we perform
'The Childrens Room', an after school club in Kaza which is focused on creative play - we donated our props and costumes to them last time we went to Spiti.
'Lets Open a Book', a charity focused on getting kids reading in Spiti, who will distribute them to where they're needed most.
The books are going to Primary aged children who are learning English at school.
The books need to have clear story lines and illustrations to support this learning, as well as being a great read which will encourage children to read for pleasure.
We've got a list put together with our contacts in Spiti - please do suggest additions too.
We CAN'T take board books or hard covers or anything larger than A4 - everything's going in our back packs!
(The one exception to this - If you are a library who would like to donate out-size 'read aloud' books, please get in touch!)
We CAN'T take books with batteries or pop-up bits or flaps - these won't last well
If you'd like to donate books, we'll be collecting them at all our events over the coming weeks, or you can call/email/text to arrange drop off or collection in the BH postcode area.
